HL:Tell us about yourself. Who are you are you and where were you born?  Family life, kids?

NS: I was born in an old Durban suburb called Clairwood. I was also born into a football family. My uncles played for a Clairwood team called Bridgeview and two of them went on to play for Berea in the old SASL which included Avalon, Aces, Orlando Pirates and Moroko Swallows. Me and my three brothers Teddy, Charlie and Popeye played for Colleens in the Southern Natal Grand Challenge which was the second division of the Federation Professional League in Natal.

My brother Charlie Soobben became a very famous player in the FPL with Verulam Suburbs. Many other famous players played for us at Colleens, like Gopi Naidoo, Bob Williams, Vincent Pillay, Adam…
